Women on Mission
The Mary Glover Nixon Circle of Women on Mission meets the first Monday of every month in the choir room at 10:30 AM. We study the mission work of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF), work supported by the Myrtle Arnall Mann (MAM) Trust, and local missions. We also pray for missionaries and chaplains and their work, give money and supplies to missions, and perform mission work.
Currently, we sponsor the Food Closet for Rainbow of Love Ministries, which meets at Central Baptist Church, keep in touch with and respond to needs of Willet Cottage at the Children's Home and Fellowship Baptist Church, our partner church in Matanzas, Cuba. We also encourage church-wide seasons of prayer and mission offerings and participate in various other mission endeavors.
Women On Mission is an outgrowth of Women's Missionary Union (WMU) organized in 1888. It was the umbrella organization for Baptist Women, Young Women's Association (YWA), Girls In Action (GA), Royal Ambassadors (RA), and Mission Friends. The Sarah Hall Missionary Society of Central Baptist Church was organized in 1897.
