How is Central different?

The home page said Central stands out as being unique. So how is it different?
While Central is similar to many churches in some respects, it is quite unique in others . . .

How does Central stand out as being unique?

In several ways, Central is like most churches. The people of Central

  • meet on Sunday morning to worship God.

  • engage in activities to let people outside the church know how belief in Jesus can change them forever.

  • take part in various educational activities.

  • perform service in their community, state, and world.

However, Central is not your typical Baptist church. The church

  • Is autonomous. It answers to no denominational hierarchy, though it cooperates with various agencies in carrying out its mission.

  • is unified in purpose to be Christ in its community of faith and in the world, but exhibits loving respect for the diverse opinions of individual members.

  • is committed to inspired scripture, the Bible; but, unlike many churches, embraces the belief that the individual is free to interpret the Bible for himself or herself, using the best tools of scholarship and biblical study available to the individual.

  • recognizes the equality before God of men and women. Women, as well as men, serve in leadership positions and may be ordained. We named our first female deacon in 1956.

  • denominationally is affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
