Our Staff

Rev. Matt Sapp - Pastor

matteditedMatt is a graduate of Mercer University as well as the McAfee School of Theology. He is the son of a Baptist minister and has strong ties to three institutions that our church is also closely aligned with: Mercer University, McAfee School of Theology, and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Matt grew up in both Atlanta and Richmond, Virginia. He is an avid Braves fan, enjoys writing, and has a twin brother who lives in Macon. Matt started his career in the ministry at Wieuca Road Baptist in Atlanta where he served as their minister to students and then minister for congregational life. He comes to Central from Heritage Fellowship in Canton, Georgia, where he served as pastor.

Julie Sapp is a native of Waynesboro, Georgia, where her family still lives. She is also a graduate of Mercer University and currently works as a corporate accountant for an energy firm in Norcross, GA. Most of Julie’s time now is spent with their first child, Hudson, a son born in July 2017.

Rev. Anne Cronic - Minister of Music

cronic editAnne serves as Minister of Music at Central Baptist. She also helps to coordinate the Women's Ministry. Anne has served full-time since 2001, although she has been a part of the music ministry at Central since 1985, alongside a thirteen-year teaching career.

Anne holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Belmont University, a Masters in Musicology from Ohio State University and an Education Specialist degree from Georgia State University. Anne and her husband, Danny, have three children: Drew, Nathan, and Lydia. They have six grandchildren. As a family, they enjoy golf vacations to the mountains in the summer and football in the fall.

Rev. Katie Faison -  Minister to Children

faison0817Katie grew up in Newnan, Georgia. She has been a member of Central Baptist all of her life. She holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education from East Carolina University and a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from McAfee School of Theology of Mercer University 

Katie is married to John Faison, who is a biology teacher at Woodward Academy in College Park, GA. Together they have two children, Emma Grace and Allie.

Mr. Billy Roberts - Interim Youth Minister

billy roberts2Billy Roberts is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he majored in Business Management and Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology with a Master of Divinity. He grew up in metro Atlanta with his parents and older, twin sisters and has been active in Baptist churches since before he can remember. Most recently, Billy served as the Pastor for Youth and Families at First Baptist Church Decatur.

Billy met his wife, Katie Roberts, at Georgia Tech. Katie works for a small, government affairs firm in Atlanta. They have one son, Sam, who is three and fills their lives with joy, laughter, and unpredictability. They also have one dog, Jack, who is twelve.Billy is quite handy and tackles most home improvement and repair jobs personally with the help of his father and YouTube videos. He enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and expanding his television and movie trivia knowledge.
